What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, the visitor’s IP address, and the browser user agent string to help with spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Likewise, services like Sucuri, and JetPack, may examine your data for security purposes.

We collect base data, your name, address, telephone number, and email address, as part of your membership services through WooCommerce that are stored on our GoDaddy-hosted WordPress. Credit card data is not stored on these hosted services directly, but passed through to the credit card processing software, which could be Square, Paypal, or Stripe. See their services for details on privacy, and data protection.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

We may employ one or more services to help us create, manage, and/or store records gathered from contact forms. Such information is gathered through voluntary contribution. We do not sell any data gathered from contact forms that is stored on our site. For third parties, please see the specific privacy rules of that company.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Website Information

Our website is a complex construction of content that is generated by TheRossGroupFT LLC (“the company”) and third-party providers, and their various sub-contractors, third-parties, agents, and assigns. Here is what you need to know about that, and how it affects the handling of your data:

Hosted Platform

This website is hosted on a WordPress platform, created by WordPress.org, and hosted, and maintained by GoDaddy. The company is not responsible for the design, testing, implementation, or programming of the platform. For privacy rules, as it applies to your data, and its handling by the companies that created the platform, please visit their websites.

Third Party Software

The company does not hire software developers to do custom programming. All of the software used to collect, store, and process information is done by third parties. We also store very little information, other than basic name, address, email address and telephone number. Any third party software that will ask you for your information is responsible for the privacy, handling, and security of your data. Here are the companies that we currently use:

Analytics

Who we share your data with

We do not share your personal data with any third parties, at any time outside of the company. We may, however, use your data to compile statistical information, or personal preference information. Such generic information, that does NOT include any personal data, may be shared with companies that aid us in creating better user experiences, and/or improve our marketing systems.

Telephone & Text Messaging Data Usage:

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights do you have over your data?

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data that we hold about you, including any data which you have provided to us. This does not include any data that we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

You can also request that we erase any personal data that we hold about you. If you make such a request, we will not be able to operate the software that is needed to provide you with information and service on our website. Your account(s) will be closed, as part of your request.

Where do we send your data?

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. If you buy something at our store, or use other third party services connected to the site, you may authorize third parties to use your name, address, or other transactional information for the purposes of that transaction hosted on our site, or performed through third party sites that service our site.

We may use other services that, with your prior written permission, gather data about your user experience. There may be other services that we offer, from scheduling, to telephone support, where third parties will handle your request from our website. In all cases of third-party handling, please check their privacy policy on their website.

Your contact information

Your contact information may be stored on our servers. We employ current, reasonable, generally accepted industry standards of protection for our site, and its data. No matter how good security is at any website, it is vulnerable to being breached. If you do not feel comfortable in sharing your contact information, with that possibility in mind, do not do so. Your voluntary contribution of your contact information on this website indicates your permission for its storage, and use by the company, under the terms and conditions set forth herein.
